November

"In preparing the soil for planting, you will need several tools. Dynamite would be a beautiful thing to use, but it would have a tendency to get the dirt into the front-hall and track up the stairs"
(Robert Benchley)

Exactly! This month, to my great relief, my creaking knees have shaped up nicely after digging out a patio. I'm proud of them. Sadly, my wrists have slightly let the side down and gone all tired and spindly, after carrying away the top soil and bringing in the stone. Ah well.

Still, my mother, bless her, has kitted me out most thoughtfully with knee pads and wrist supports. And so, fork and trowel in hand, I look much like a 44 year old mutant ninja turtle, on my way to work each day... But they are helping, I'm strong again. And I'm not complaining, or muttering... about trusses! I'm grinning!

There is so very little time to blog these days. Right now I really ought to be revising the properties of soil (for an evening class exam), or making a trolley dash in Asda, or tackling the plastic toy mountain that has all but engulfed small son's room, or or cleansing and polishing something...

But... I'm here instead. And soon I will be visiting you dear reader! Er, if I have any readers left that is. (Iota, see, I paid attention!!)

This blogging - this tiny first person broadcast - newsletter - ranting space - corner for a giggle - cyber cat-flap into personal space - who knows what this is. But it's great fun and it works. You make a place, express yourself and find friends all over the world. What could be better!

I'm no good at telling the truth in my blog. I would rather extract my eyeballs than talk about my real daily life. I mean it. Well, everything I have ever said here is true, particularly the chocolate bits, but I have left an awful lot out this last year. It's been busy.

And now, roughly since I started blogging, a year and a half ago -
I, Merry Weather,
have proudly given birth to an elephant...

No, no, of course not!! I have done something else altogether. I have let go of being Mrs No-One and become Myself: independent, happy-hearted, hard-working, one day at a time, devoted mother of three me...

And there've been crappy times, sure. But there's been a lot to be glad about:
I found the right work, I know I can provide for my kids, I'm strong, I've made all sorts of new friends, I bob along surviving - and I'm so happy for that.

Um, seasonal stuff!

This all sounds great. Good to hear you so happy and fulfilled.

I am Mrs No-one at the moment, and having had 15 mins with an immigration lawyer this week, it seems that my prospects for work are very hurdle-ridden. I know you shouldn't tie up your identity with work, and I don't, but it is quite depressing, nonetheless.

Good to see that Mrs No-one can be a temporary state of being.

what a wonderful job you found, one that gets you out of doors and makes you strong and happy and fills you will great feelings of independence and inner strength.

makes me want to take up landscaping and gardening, too, even though i would be quite bad at it.

it's always good to see my bloglines light up with your name.

Identity for me is tied up with freedom, a sense of purpose and fulfillment I think. Work plays a big part sure, but I agree, it isn't by any means the magic answer.
You will never be No-One Iota, you're too feisty and funny... Very best of luck leaping those hurdles.

Bloglines Laurie? Ah, so that's how you do it. I haven't tried that. Nice to see you again, looking out from your rock!

I'm still checking in on you! Mostly I'm disappointed 'cos you haven't posted, of course, but I've not given up.

Nice to know that you're OK and enjoying your job. It sounds like hard work, but satisfying.

Nice cauliflower! I love cyclamen. I had some appear in my wild garden, at the side of the shed. What a lovely surprise. I hadn't planted them. How could that happen? Aren't they bulbs or something?

Oh Sweetie, you sound wonderful and strong and I've never thought of you as Mrs Noone...you're always you, no matter what hat you're wearing at the time! Can't wait to see the patio...hope it's coming along well and not tiring you out!
hugs
Sandi

There's an award at my place and a tag, if you fancy it, or have time to do it!

I am staying up late revising! I feel guilty. And my eyes are crossing. If I were one of the kids I would tell myself off... !

Mean Mom, hi, how are you? - I will be there! After the exam. Thank you! Cyclamens grow from tubers apparently (like bulbs) - when they're happy they thrive and spread. I know this because I just read it! Could it be from next door? Or maybe it's a bird poo issue...!

Hugs to you Sandi, you always say the right thing. See you soon!

Was the elephant a boy or a girl? And what did you call it?

Glad you're enjoying yourself!

That is so cheering Merry. You have found yourself and what works for you. What more could anyone want?

I guess we all write about what inspires us, and take pleasure from that. It becomes a compulsion and although it takes time, I too find it brings it's own rewards, even if no-one is listening!

Carry on blogging, I say, and don't forget the crunchies.

What are bloglines btw and how does one acquire them? Do you know?

Hello to you MOTL!
Actually it's asexual, abstract even, I call it Freedom.
:)

Marianne, how true. That is most encouraging, especially on a day like today. Thank you.

Bloglines.com, notifies you of new posts, I think? I googled it and these words came up:
"A web-based personal news aggregator that can be used in place of a desktop client" -
Um, I'm none the wiser really!

Sounds scary Merry. Maybe I'll give bloglines a miss and just carry on quietly talking to myself! Thanks for looking though.

:-)

I know! It's the talking that counts, not the technology.

Well we've now come to the end of November. I hope that means we can look forward to a December posting from you? I hope the knees and wrists are holding up in this chilly weather. 8-) x

Guess what? I've been writing one this weekend LT!!
I just know there is an unspoken psychic bond between here and Sidmouth...
Knees and wrists looking good - thank you for asking... X
