A Job at Last!

I found this fallen rose last week and thought I'd leave it here - so many textures, shades and such a scent - well, it's a shame there's no smell feature on Blogger!

I have good news: a job at last! The landscape gardening company I've been with spending time with recently, on work experience, have taken me on full time. I am really really pleased!

This comes in spite of somersaulting spectacularly through a rockery last week, whilst uprooting a giant weed... I don't know what it was called, a kind of hairy rhubarb sort of triffid?? Whatever it was it had very long stubborn roots...

I'm looking forward to much more of this sort of thing - with a happy heart!!

(And a crash helmet - )

That's splendid news! I'm so happy for you - even though it does mean there will be very little time any longer for tea at Ham House or Petersham Nursery!

All good wishes to you though. This must feel like a new beginning.

Dear merryweather - congratulations on the job.

i do hope the giant triffid wasn't a Giant Hogweed see;

It's very dangerous as it can cause chemical burns to the skin, see:

There is still not enough information given to people new to gardening - so do take care.... people have needed plastic surgery after coming in contact with this plant which does indeed look like a giant rhubarb. My nephew had to attend A&E last year after coming meeting this plant while working on a voluntary basis for his D of Edinburgh Award.

Oh how frustrating to see an errant 'coming' towards the end of my comment! 8-(

Wow that is such good news! So pleased. Was it Gunnera that caused you to fall down the rockery. It is a bit of a thug!

Congratulations and well done! I hope it will be a great move for you.

I was reading your previous post - I was taught by a Sister Marie Therese as well. We called her SMUT. Behind her back of course. I only remember turning into a blabbering idiot when she was facing me.

Thanks everyone for reading and commenting! It's nice to share good news with friends! I shall be thinking of your good wishes as I crack on with this, like Bea says, it's a new start for me. Goodbye Mrs Invisible Mum, hello me :)

Well, of course the kids are still here bless them. I am promising to train them up too if they like.

Bea, I will MAKE time for tea - just let me know when :)

Lady T - you are a mine of information! I had no idea Giant Hogweed was that nasty. Crikey, I am really glad you told me about it! No, I don't think it was that - fortunately.

Aims - you rock too! Although not literally, like me!

Maggie - Thank you, I've looked up your suggestion, again I'd never heard of Gunnera either. Hmm it wasn't that though, the leaves were more like small dock.

MoTL - SMUT!! Splendid!! Actually, I met a nun from the convent recently, not Smut - she must be long gone by now - and was very touched by how kind and well-meaning she was... I guess they were simply overwhelmed by small kids - I dunno.

Hi Sandi - Thanks, I'm already planning the next post - honest! :)

Hmmm ... I'd not thought of Gunnera - you must be sure to tell us what it was when you find out!! Please...

Lady T, ah - I shall email you the exact location! I am still looking forward to a possible brief encounter with you by the way...? Ask Bea, I'm quite harmless you know :)

And I do like the specs smiley - x

Merryw - I'm sure you are quite safe - but my husband and sister are petrified I'll be 'outed' if I get to meet real people.

My man is quite happy for me to moan and whinge about him - but not if people found out exactly who I am - besides who am I?

I would worry that I would disappoint if you met me in real life. Especially when you find out that I'm not joking when I said I'm a 'bossy know it all'.

I'll think about it when I next travel up to the big city. And if brave enough will email you. 8-) xx

WELL DONE!!!! Thats great to hear that you have got a job and even better to hear that its something you love so much. Its so easy to get stuck in a rut doing something just to pay the bills.

Well done again and all the best for your future gardening days you shall be at chelsea soon!

Well done you! You must have impressed them. Congratulations! Love the picture of the rose too. In a way you've saved it in it's prime. Flick xx

I understand Lady T. Hey, I might disappoint you instead :) No worries, I shall live in hope...

Who am I? - Yes, this is at the core of this blogging lark isn't it. I tell you who I am right now, a rather mud-stained middle-aged woman who's been working late ... and is grinning at you!

That triffid weed is curled dock btw. I poked about on Google and found it listed at a site in Canada. How cool is that - found in Croydon, classified in Canada, within moments! Hugs

Hi Merlin's Wizard! I'm a lot wiser about the properties of blood, since following up the comments on your recent post! Hope I remember the details for next time the kids ask!

Thanks for your kind remarks :)

(Me at Chelsea? Nah! Selling ice creams perhaps!!)

Hi Flick and Mean Mom

Thanks! Pictures brighten things up I think, and that rose was overblown - so for me - at it's best.

Remember those dark days when you thought interviewers were all young and sassy and you didn't know what to wear or say? Aha! Who has the last laugh now? Many congrats!
